Sefydlwyd Côr Meibion Dwyfor yn 1975 fel Parti Cerdd Dant ar gyfer cystadlu yn Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Bro Dwyfor, a hynny o dan arweiniad D. G. Jones (Selyf), Garn Dolbenmaen, cyn i Gerallt, ei fab hynaf, ac yna Alun Llwyd, ei fab ieuengaf afael yn yr awenau yn eu tro. I’w dilyn hwythau daeth John Eifion o Hendre Cennin i arwain, gan droi’r parti yn gôr, cyn iddo yntau gael ei ddilyn gan Buddug Roberts.
Bu’r Côr yn llwyddiannus yn Yr Eisteddfod Genedlaethol a’r Wyl Cerdd Dant ar ganu gwerin, ac yn cystadlu’n gyson ar gerdd dant dros y blynyddoedd. Bellach mae’r Côr yn cystadlu yng nghystadlaethau’r corau lleisiau tenor/bas yn ogystal.
Bu’n gefnogol iawn i eisteddfodau a chyngherddau lleol ar hyd y blynyddoedd. Mae wedi teithio i Iwerddon, Yr Alban, Ffrainc a’r Eidal ac wedi diddori cynulleidfaoedd led-led Cymru ac yn Lloegr.

Y gyfeilyddes yw Alison Edwards. Aeth hithau, fel Buddug, i’r byd Addysg. Mae wedi cael cyfnodau llwyddiannus fel athrawes tros y blynyddoedd a bu’n Swyddog Addysg ym Mhlas Tan-y-bwlch, Maentwrog, am gyfnod, cyn symud ymlaen i’w swydd bresennol fel athrawes yn y Ganolfan Iaith ar Ynys Môn (Moelfre/Cybi).

Côr Meibion Dwyfor was established in 1975 as a Cerdd Dant Party to compete at the Bro Dwyfor National Eisteddfod, conducted by D.G. Jones (Selyf), Garn Dolbenmaen, before Gerallt, his eldest son, and then Alun Llwyd, his youngest son, in turn took over that role. They were followed as conductor by John Eifion from Hendre Cennin, who turned the party into a choir, and his successor was Buddug Roberts.
The Choir achieved success in the folk singing competitions at the National Eisteddfod and the Cerdd Dant Festival, and has regularly competed in cerdd dant competitions over the years. The Choir now also competes in tenor/bass choir competitions.
It has been very supportive of local eisteddfodau and concerts over the years. It has toured in Ireland, Scotland, France and Italy and entertained audiences throughout England and Wales.
The Choir’s Musical Director is Buddug Roberts. Following successful periods as a teacher, Deputy Head, and for two years as a Music Advisory teacher for primary and secondary schools on the Isle of Anglesey and Gwynedd, she is now the Head Teacher in charge at Ysgol y Gelli.
The accompanist is Alison Edwards. Like Buddug, she has also followed a career in education. She has had successful periods as a teacher over the years and was the Education Officer at Plas Tan-y-bwlch, Maentwrog, for a time, before moving on to her current position as a teacher at the Language Center on the Isle of Anglesey (Moelfre/Cybi).
The choir’s deputy accompanist is John Morris Jones. Before retirement, Morris worked as a General Practitioner for thirty years in the Nantlle Valley area.
